Article 1 - Payment

When you book a trip, you pay the full trip price in one go.

Article 2 - Cancellation

Want to cancel your booking? Let Novakse know in writing, for example by email to schaatsennovakse@outlook.com. If you cancel, the following percentages of the trip price apply:

• More than 8 weeks before departure: 25% of the trip price.
• 8 to 4 weeks before departure: 50% of the trip price.
• 4 to 2 weeks before departure: 75% of the trip price.
• Less than 2 weeks before departure: 100% of the trip price.

You pay no cancellation costs if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at or near your destination, such as a natural disaster or a serious safety risk, significantly affect the trip or the transport to get there. In that case you get the full amount back.

If Novakse cancels the trip, you get everything you paid back within 14 days. Your legal right to any compensation remains.

Article 3 - Price changes

After you book, the price can only change because of higher or lower costs for transport fuel, taxes and fees (such as tourist tax or airport tax) or exchange rates. You will hear about a price increase at least 4 weeks before departure, in writing and with an explanation of how it was calculated. If the price goes up by more than 8%, you may cancel the trip free of charge. If these costs go down, you are entitled to a lower price.

Article 4 - Complaints

Is something wrong during the trip? Report it to Novakse straight away, so it can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Any complaints should be submitted to Novakse in writing as soon as possible, and no later than 14 days after the trip ends. Novakse will respond in writing within 14 days of receiving the complaint. You can send a complaint to schaatsennovakse@outlook.com.

Article 5 - Applicable law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms. If you live in another country, you keep the protection that the consumer law of your country gives you. Disputes are submitted to the competent court.

Article 6 - Right of withdrawal

There is no right of withdrawal (the 14-day cooling-off period) after booking a trip. The law does not give that cooling-off period for trips, accommodation and transport on fixed dates.

Article 7 - Extra insurance and extra driver for the rental car

Basic protection is included in the car rental price. When picking up the rental car, you can always request an extra driver (€13) or full insurance cover (€18 per day for the whole group) at the counter.

With basic protection, you pay the deductible yourself in case of theft or bodywork damage, and the full cost yourself for other damage (interior, tyres, windows, engine), roadside assistance or other costs. With full insurance cover, these costs are reimbursed, except for cleaning costs, personal belongings and flight or accommodation bookings. The rental company confirms the exact terms when you pick up the car.

Article 8 - Transferring your trip

Can't go yourself? Then you may transfer your trip to someone else who meets all the conditions of the trip. Let Novakse know in writing no later than 7 days before departure.

You pay any extra costs this causes yourself, for example for changing a flight ticket. Novakse tells you in advance how much that is and never charges more than the actual costs. You and the new traveller are jointly responsible for paying any outstanding amount and these costs.

Article 9 - Natural ice and weather

Natural ice depends on the weather and varies from place to place and from day to day. Novakse therefore cannot promise that there will be good natural ice during your trip, nor how thick the ice will be.

If you skate independently, you decide for yourself whether the ice is safe enough for your experience and level. If you have booked guidance or travel with a group, always follow your guide's instructions. This article does not change the agreements about the other parts of your trip, such as your accommodation and transport.

Article 10 - Insurance

Travel insurance and cancellation insurance are not included in the trip price. Novakse recommends that you take them out yourself. Check that your insurance covers skating on natural ice, as well as medical costs and transport back home.

You submit any claim to your insurer yourself; the insurer decides whether you receive compensation. For the rental car insurance, see Article 7.
